EloisChess ("we", "our", "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

We do not require account creation. The App does not collect your name, email address, or other personal identifiers.

Automatically collected information

• Game data: Chess positions, moves, and analysis results are processed on your device using the local Stockfish engine. This data stays on your device.
• Commentary requests: When you use the "Explain Why" feature, chess position data (FEN strings, moves, and analysis results) is sent to our cloud service to generate coaching commentary. No personal identifiers are included in these requests.
• Progress data: Your lesson progress, puzzle completion, and training history are stored locally on your device using on-device storage.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information described above solely to:

• Provide move analysis and coaching commentary
• Track your learning progress locally on your device
• Improve the quality of our coaching commentary

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Google Gemini (via Cloudflare Workers): Chess position data is sent to generate coaching commentary. This data does not include personal identifiers. See Google's AI terms for details.
• Apple App Store: If you purchase a subscription, Apple processes your payment. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. Data Storage & Security

All game data and progress are stored locally on your device. We do not maintain user accounts or store personal data on our servers. Commentary requests are processed in real-time and not persistently stored.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

7. Your Choices

• Offline mode: You can use the App entirely offline. Move grading works without an internet connection. Only the "Explain Why" commentary feature requires a network connection.
• Delete local data: You can delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the App.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the App or on our website with a new effective date.
